I dated this girl for eight months. The most frustrating thing about the relationship was that her ex boyfriend called once or twice every week. It really ticked me off. However, my girlfriend kept saying that it wasn’t an issue because he didn’t want her back. He was just calling to keep in touch. Well, I knew better than that. I’m a guy so I know how guys act. He never displayed any neediness or desperatation. He would just have a simple conversation with her and then hang up.
Eight months later after we broke up, he easily walked back into her scene like he never left.
You may not have to wait eight months. But then again you may. The losers in this game are the ones that are not ready to fight the long battle. Those who can hold out the longest and DO get back with their ex girlfriends are the ones that regain peace inside and continue on with the other aspects of their life. If you notice that your ex is all of a sudden showing that they are interested in going out and spending more time with you, and further your seeing some subtle flirtations coming your way; then it’s perfectly normal to be optimistic, but caution is in order to avoid jumping to the wrong conclusion. If things similar to these are happening, you may be thinking that, my ex wants to get back with me"?
Signs like these certainly lend reason for optimism that yes, my ex wants me back. However, it’s in your best interest to not quickly jump back into the relationship, if that’s what your plan is at least. You should play it smart and use the old adage of playing hard to get… in moderation of course. This will very likely cement the notion that what you’ve been thinking is correct, "my ex wants to get back with me". But you see, if you immediately jump right back into things you may find your ex pushes you back, thus sending very mixed feelings. For the most part, when he or she breaks up with you or you break up them, it’s very common on both sides to have feelings of missing one another and of course wanting to get back together again. You and your ex are missing each other because of the many memories you shared together as well as the experiences you went though together. Of course there will also be other emotions associated with the past too, including feelings of regret. That’s why it’s important for you to understand whether their motives are genuine, in that they really are interested in spending time with you again. It’s possible that their motives aren’t pure and they just want to pass the time because they have no other prospects to pursue at this point in time. What’s worse, they may see this as an opportunity to get back at you for some past transgression they feel happened to them. This is why its very important to not immediately jump right back into the relationship at the first signs of reconciliation, but to focus on understanding the situation before acting on it.
This kind is situation is very common and it leads people to ask themselves, " I think my ex wants me back again", but the fact of the matter is, you should first get a feel for the whole situation and not act on emotion. You see, if your ex wants to get back with you, then playing hard to get is going to allow you to gauge the situation, size it up if you will and see what the real story is. This will serve as a protection for you especially if your ex wasn’t serious about getting back together again. Get your ex back in this situation may not be the right decision.

So you’ve decided "I want my ex husband back". That’s great! Alot of people don’t really understand why people go back to an ex or re-marry again. But you know what? That’s ok. If it’s what your heart wants, then you don’t need other people to understand. However, there is a process to it all. A way of proceeding. The biggest obstacle you might have to overcome is what’s known as "the rut". We’re all familiar with it. Any relationship that has endured any significant amount of time begins to fall into a certain routine. Whether it’s in the bedroom, or out of the bedroom. It’s called "real life" and more times than not, it can really get intheway. If there was a divorce or a separation, this could have been one of the underlying reasons. If it was, then it most certainly must be avoided if there is to be a "second time around". You must make new memories together. Go to new places on your dates or outings. Meet new people. Maybe join a social group or two with people of common interests. Anything that you can do to break that old cycle will only help.
This goes hand in hand with another point I wanted to make. You simply MUST make time for the relationship itself. It’s easy to let your profession, friends, even children get in the way of a couple really enjoying each other, but you simply must make time fore each other. No relationship can survive otherwise.Second, keep an open mind. Whatever the reason for the separation, it’s in the past. Learn to forgive, even if infidelity was involved. Especially if infidelity was involved. If you re-visit the source of the friction, it will only cause more friction. Obviously, you have a right to know certain things. But make a point to know the things that will move the relationship forward. Hammering out the same old issues will make the new relationship feel just like the old one, which will eventually result in the exact same outcome.
Forgiving doesn’t mean forgetting, by any means. Just be careful. You are going to have to facethose past issues, but there is a way to do it without actually taking a step backwards. For the sake of love, try to move forward. If you’re serious when you say "I want my ex husband back", try to find it in your heart to forgive, for both of you.

If you have decided that you want to get back together with your ex again, it’s important in the first place, to "put your own house back in order."
Picking up the pieces
First and foremost, you must pay close attention to your own appearance and behavior. It’s all too easy to let yourself go following a break up. You feel there is nothing to live for, and that the meaning has gone out of your life, and you can’t be bothered to look smart clean and tidy. What’s the point?
Well, the point is that your ex girlfriend is hardly likely to be impressed by watching you turn into a tramp. Don’t go for the sympathy vote, it doesn’t work. It will only create feelings of contempt.
If you want to get her back, you must first show her that you are still a desirable catch. Always make sure you look your best when you see her. Put on a positive face, smile and try to look happy. A woman likes a positive man who exudes confidence, someone she can depend on.
Analyze and conquer

Having completed your analysis and decided how to avoid falling into the same pitfalls, you need to put your plans into action.
Contact is the Key
You must first re-establish contact. Communication is the doorway by which you will carry out your plan.
Your first contacts should be light, free and easy. Create a relaxed atmosphere. Don’t rush things. Take the time to listen to her and to care about her needs and wants. By doing this she will appreciate that you care for her feelings.
Then, slowly build the contact level up so you are spending more time together, and during that time try to show her in gentle, subtle ways that you still care for her and to give her the idea that you would be receptive to a second start. During these times together, spend time doing some of the things that you used to enjoy doing together before. This will help to remind her of the fun times you had together and will help to create the right atmosphere for thoughts of a rematch.
Leopards can change their spots
This is also the time to show her that you have changed, and that there won’t be a repeat of the things that went wrong before. A little gentle, subtle flirting will also help, not only to show that you still care for her but also it will flatter her and make her feel desired.
These are all the things that you need to do first to win her back.
Planning the route to a happy ending
Be sure it’s what you really want and that you are willing and prepared to make the necessary changes. Show her that you still care, that you have changed, and then give her the time and the room to make the decision to invite you back into her life again.
